We believe he later was awarded a coveted scholarship,
completed his engineering studies and is now seeking work in the space
or other high tech engineering role.

Chris Foust

Picture
Moderator of Astrophysics Society chat forum.
"Matter is mostly empty space. The only reason that solids are solid is because of the electromagnetic force."

Benji says Chris doesn't look like a guy who sold his soul for knowledge.
Graham says if the knowledge were a cure for old age it might be worth the cost.
Chris is a valued friend.

Astro Dave

Picture
David Reneke, one of Australia’s most well known and respected amateur astronomers and astronomy writers/editors. http://www.davidreneke.com/about-dave-reneke

Astro Dave is nuts about astronomy but he also takes an interest in space exploration.

Benji thought he heard Dave talking about a Space Hotel orbiting the Earth. Benji says since he is a teddy bear he should get a cheap seat to visit the Space Hotel. Benji says his lunch box with his honey cakes can sit on his lap. Benji promises he will not take up too much room.

Janet Andrews

Picture
We think Janet's work has something to with helping people find work.
Janet has an interest in fractal and holgrams in physics and the idea of the universe all being connected.
Janet describes herself as a lay person in math and physics but is interested in learning more and helping out with research.

Rumour has it Janet may be a but of an AstroNut as well, but who listens to rumours?

Nadir Bagaveyev

Picture
New friend from LinkedIn.

Design Engineer at XCOR Aerospace.

Brian Shiro

Picture
MS in Space Studies.

Rumored to be involved in "Astronauts For Hire".

Benji suspects there would be more applicants than vacancies in the Astronaut business.

Richard Garriott de Cayeux

Picture
http://www.richardinspace.com/

Richard is a new friend we connect with on LinkedIn.

Richard has been into space so we suppose that makes him an astronaut rather than just an astronut.

We understand Richard enjoys visiting schools and telling kids about his trip into space.

Rocket Girl

Picture
Leslie is a new friend who knows a lot about space travel.

Leslie Wickman, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for Research in Science (CRIS) at Azusa Pacific University (APU). She is an internationally respected research scientist, engineering consultant, and inspirational speaker.

Benji wants to know when he will get his own space suit.

 Barbarella

Picture
Space Exploration in reality may not be as "sexy" as Barbarella but it certainly captures the imagination of many.

For some reason may of the people we encounter in philosophy of physics dicsussions have links to Astronomy, NASA or spaceflight industries.

Tom Campbell

Picture
YouTube:   Virtual Reality: Why It's A Better Model Than String Theory and Holographic Universes

NASA physicist.
Author of  "My Big TOE: A Trilogy Unifying Philosophy, Physics and Metaphysics" Amazon

With Tom's experience with NASA he qualifies as an AstroNut but we think he better sits as a VR guy.
We plan to pose Benji with his copy of Tom's book we bought for him.

Milo Wolf

Picture
http://www.quantummatter.com

We understand Graham and Milo have swapped a few emails  discussing Wheeler's "Participatory Universe" idea.
Graham says he has encountered references to Milo's ideas over many years.

Milo helped design the navigation system for the
Apollo Moon rocket.
Milo likes the standing wave explanation of matter.

Benji says Milo's book Scrodinger's Universe is excellent.

Picture

Thad Roberts

Picture
Philosopher of Physics, Adventurer,
Subject of the best seller "Sex on the Moon"
http://einsteinsintuition.com
Video Visualizing 11 Dimensions includes time and superspacial time.
Multi-time theories play a big role in Benji's TOE.

We understand Thad was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison,
for stealing NASA moon rocks bought back by Neil Armstrong, to impress a girlfriend.
While in prison, Thad developed new theories about the structure of spacetime.

Usha and Graham are reviewing Thad's physics ideas.
Thad is a new but valued friend.

Ron Garret

Picture
Ron is an ex-NASA ex-Google computer programmer interested in VR or information analogy of QM.
Ron has been kind enough to answer some email questions we asked him.
Ron is apparently a charitable person interested in helping homeless people.
We hope he focusses some of his energies developing his quantum ideas, and helping struggling scientists.

Ron is one of our favorite thinkers.

Rob Lowe

Picture
This Rob Lowe may not be a movie star but he has some notoriety.

Rob is a successful author and  like many of Benji's friends, has worked for NASA.
Rob is interested in the weird aspects of modern physics.
Graham worked with Rob on time aspects of Rob's book The Eccentric Universe.
Rob and Graham are co-writing a sequel which will focus on
the question of whether our world is too eccentric to be real.

Rob's recently met with Prince Phillip who sponsors The Eccentric Club, where Rob was voted "Eccentric of the Year" .  Rob's first book "A True British Eccentric" supposedly had the royal family "highly amused".  Rumor has it her majesty was almost rolling in the palace aisles reading Rob's first book.

Scott Tyson

Picture
Like many of Benji's friends, Scott is an author and has worked for NASA.
Benji says Scott is as kind as he seems in his photo.
Benji says he knows these things based on magical teddy powers.
Who are we to argue with a teddy bear.
Benji says Scott reminds him of a muddle headed wombat he knows.
Scott's wife seems to think Rob sometimes forgets other people exist,
when he gets wrapped in his work.
Gromwald Bear says Scott should send flowers every day begging forgiveness.
Benji says his honey cakes are a hit with everyone, including the lady bears.

http://www.scottmtyson.com
http://www.theunobservableuniverse.com
http://www.facebook.com/TheUnobservableUniverse
Scott has some bold ideas that if true could lead to revolutionary consequences.

Carl Sagan

Picture
Sagan's TV series Cosmos was an inspiration to many budding scientists,
including Elsa, our resident physicists.

Carl seemed to believe we are all born scientists but many get our curiosity
"beaten out" of us.

Elsa's work for NASA showed that dust clouds and comets include chemical similar to those in human brains and diet drinks like Pepsi Max. In "Diseases from Space" Sagan suggested this Frozen Coke mixture also included Flu viruses that introduce new genetic material into evolving planets.

At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes--an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep nonsense. -- Carl Sagan

A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later such a religion will emerge.
— Carl Sagan  Pale Blue Dot: a Vision of the Human Future in Space (1994), 52.

There are many videos of Carl Sagan on the web. Carl's family continue his work.

Robert Piccioni

Picture
Dr. Robert Piccioni
www.guidetothecosmos.com
Author of "Everyone's Guide to Atoms, Einstein, and the Universe",
"Can Life Be Merely An Accident?"
& "A World Without Einstein"
Dark matter may be the greatest mystery in physics; we have almost no solid evidence to indicate what it is. The most popular guess is that dark matter consists of WIMPs, Weakly Interacting Massive Particles, which sounds much more professional than AGAC (Ain’t Got A Clue).
Dark Matter Is: Heavy; Not In Our Backyard;
Dark Matter Not Centered In Galaxy Centers;
Dark Matter Might be Sticky

Like Graham, Robert seems more interested in understanding the universe and stars in it, than working out ways to travel to other stars and planets.
